Lake Almanor and Lassen Volcanic National Park lie in Northeastern California along the southern most end of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, where the Sierra Nevada meet the Cascades. At 4500 feet the Lake Almanor Basin lies at the headwaters of the Feather River. The town of Chester, on the northern shore of Lake Almanor is the commercial focal point of the area [1].
